The United States in Cherokee

This may be the only map of the United States in an indigenous syllabary. The Cherokee syllabary was invented by ᏍᏏᏉᏯ (Sequoya) in 1821. Many of the state names on this map are the same as their names in English, just transliterated into Cherokee syllabary. For instance, ᎠᎳᏍᎦ is pronounced like “Alaska.”
